"Colégio São José: gênese e funcionamento da escola dos estigmatinos em Ituiutaba - Mg (1940-1971)

The aim of this dissertation research is the history of the São José College, the first confessional educational institution focused on the formation of the male youth of the city of Ituiutaba (Minas Gerais), in the period between 1940 - the date of its origin, and 1971 - when the school declines. In preparing this work, we pursuit understanding the process of multiplication of religious congregations in mission around the world from the Ultramontane movement, which was a reaction of the Catholic Church to changes caused by Liberalism. We also made brief reflections about the school education introduced by Catholicism in Brazil, from the arrival of the Portuguese and Jesuits, through investigation of the principles of the Congregation of the Sacred Stigmata until the genesis of the São José College in the educational context of the town, establishing connections with education in Minas Gerais and Brazil. The study of the trajectory that allows us to understand the practices and culture developed in the academic area, through the approach of their stakeholders (alumni, former teachers and former managers), also analyzing the infrastructure provided for the development of the educational activities and investigating the uses of knowledge by the Stigmatines, who arrived in Brazil in 1910 and twenty-five years later, in 1935, the city of Ituiutaba/ MG which developed many social and educational activities reaching social and political prestige. For over forty years the São José College attended part of the privileged youth of the city and other regions of the country, since its maintenance was mainly of monthly contributions from the families of students to the college. Besides the bibliographical study, throughout the investigation the answers for the evoked questions have arisen from different sources (newspapers, minutes, iconography, etc...), so that we had to look on them in the basement of the old school (which closed in 1985), and also in raising private files of witnesses who lived then. Through oral history interviews were collected to understand some possible ways to express the educational policy, school culture and pedagogical proposals that support the education offered by the São José College for more than four decades.Mestre em EducaçãoO objeto de pesquisa desta dissertação é a história do Colégio São José, primeira instituição de ensino confessional direcionada à formação da juventude masculina da cidade de Ituiutaba (Minas Gerais), no período entre 1940 - data de sua origem, e 1971 - quando a escola entra em declínio. Na elaboração desse trabalho, buscamos compreender o processo de multiplicação das congregações religiosas em missão pelo mundo, a partir do movimento Ultramontano, que foi uma reação da Igreja Católica às mudanças provocadas pelo Liberalismo. Também fizemos breves reflexões a respeito da educação escolar introduzida pelo catolicismo no Brasil, a partir da chegada dos portugueses e jesuítas, passando pela investigação dos princípios da Congregação dos Sagrados Estigmas de Nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo até chegar à gênese do Colégio São José no contexto educacional ituiutabano, estabelecendo conexões com a educação em Minas e no Brasil. O estudo da trajetória desse colégio permitiu compreender parte das práticas e da cultura desenvolvida neste espaço escolar, por meio da abordagem de seus atores (exalunos, ex-professores e ex-gestores), analisando também a infraestrutura oferecida para o desenvolvimento das atividades educacionais e investigando os usos do saber por parte dos Estigmatinos, que chegaram ao Brasil em 1910 e vinte e cinco anos depois, em 1935, à cidade de Ituiutaba/MG onde desenvolveram muitas ações sociais e educacionais alcançando grande prestígio social e político. Por mais de quarenta anos o Colégio São José atendeu a parte da mocidade privilegiada da cidade e de outras regiões do país já que sua manutenção vinha principalmente das contribuições mensais das famílias dos alunos ao colégio. Além do estudo bibliográfico, ao longo da investigação, as respostas às questões levantadas surgiram das diferentes fontes consultadas (jornais, atas, iconografia, etc.), de forma que foi preciso debruçar-se sobre elas nos porões da antiga escola (que encerrou suas atividades no ano de 1985), e também no levantamento de arquivos particulares de testemunhas que viveram aquela época. Por meio da História Oral foram colhidos depoimentos que possibilitaram compreender alguns caminhos que expressam a política educacional, a cultura escolar e as propostas pedagógicas que subsidiaram a educação ofertada pelo colégio São José por mais de quatro décadas
